Curriculum

Every child deserves the best possible start in life. At Big Hearts Little Hands, we take pride in being more than just a “daycare”, in providing quality early childhood education.

The importance of early childhood education cannot be overstated. A significant part of critical brain development in children happens before they even start kindergarten. It impacts everything from school performance to lifelong social skills. Research shows that a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. There are five key areas children will benefit from by attending a quality preschool program: (1) improved social and emotional skills, (2) love of lifelong learning, (3) improved self-esteem and confidence, (4) foundation of critical STEM skills and (5) exposure to diversity.

Communication

Providing an environment where children grow their confidence and learn to express themselves in a variety of situations.

Social and emotional

Encourage children to develop an attitude of kindness, cooperation, courtesy and helpfulness towards others while developing self-confidence and independence.

Age Groups

Infants & Waddlers

Infants & Waddlers

(6 weeks to 16 months)

Allowing someone else to care for your baby is a big first step! We thank you for putting your trust in us to care for, nurture and love your baby. During these early months, protection, comfort, stimulation and loving care will be the key to your baby’s development and in providing you ease of mind. We separate our babies into two rooms by their developmental progress, infants and waddlers, for optimal care and safety. Our experienced caregivers are highly attentive to your baby as significant milestones are reached, such as learning how to roll over, crawl, walk, smile, and wave hello!

Toddlers

Toddlers

(16 months to 24 months)

It is so exciting that your baby is now walking and exploring the unknown! Caring for toddlers requires individualized routines and schedules based upon the needs of each child. Our experienced teachers are responsive to your child’s biological rhythms and interests. Our schedule is flexible and adaptable to meet the individual needs of your child. It is unhurried and allows sufficient time for routines, play and transitions.

Early Preschool

Early Preschool

(Two’s)

Two is a wonderful age! Your toddler has developed language skills and is learning to be part of a group. Children are starting to grow into their independence. They will enjoy the various learning centers such as library space, blocks, dramatic play, puzzles, music, dance and art. In most cases, children begin potty training at this age and we will work with you on this effort.

Preschool

Preschool

(Three’s and Four’s)

We love our “three-nagers” and “fournados”! This is an age in which your child needs physical activity, appropriate challenges, easily followed structure, interaction with friends and exposure to outside experiences. Our tenured preschool teachers take pride in having a strong reputation for kindergarten-readiness. You will find a well-rounded variety of activities where your child can further develop their understanding of their alphabets, recognize colors and shapes, count, learn sequencing and sorting patterns and practice writing their names and small words. Importantly though, they will also learn language skills and how to socialize with their peers in group situations.

Kinder Enrichment & School-Age

Kinder Enrichment & School-Age

Our Kindergarten Enrichment program focuses on children who attend the local public Kindergarten program by offering an enhancement to their school program. Our school agers are the big brothers and sisters of our school! We provide plenty of activities, books and educational content to keep our school agers stimulated throughout their stay. We also offer a fun, action-packed, activities-rich summer camp program when school is out!
